Old World Elegance with
all the Conveniences
When new homeowners moved into this five-year-old colonial, laminate cabinets lined the walls. Once they settled in, they realized this "builder's allowance" kitchen was not going to serve their needs or aesthetic taste. Peter Lawton was called in to "imagine something new, something wonderful."
The result is a space that combines a state-of-the-art kitchen with old world charm. Along one wall, you find a built-in home office that has become the activity hub for the family's busy schedule. To accommodate the family's love of entertaining, Peter designed a wet bar with Sub-Zero wine storage. The two-level island offers wonderful food preparation space, while maintaining a clutter-free vista from the opposite side. And a gem of a butler's pantry was designed to appear as an antique, but it functions for today with additional dishwasher and sink.
Alongside the dramatic commercial stove hearth, Peter also crafted a pass-through window between the kitchen and solarium to make serving food in this lovely space extremely convenient.
The free-flow of the environment is warm, inviting and perfect for entertaining.
